The phone line is open every Wednesday evening from 7.30-9.30pm. Calls are charged at a local rate, if however you would like us to call you back we will happily do so. The number on which we return your call will not appear on any phone records. An answering machine is available at all other times. If you leave a message we will call you back the following Wednesday.

We are here to help you and it is entirely up to you what you choose to talk to us about. But the hours that we open depend on the availability of fully trained volunteers and our resources are limited.
When you phone us for the first time, we will speak to you for up to 45 minutes. Even if you call near the end of the session, we will still talk to you for up to half an hour. After that you may phone us once a week for a call lasting up to 30 minutes. We impose this limit only to ensure maximum access to the service. Some women speak to us only once, some phone regularly, others use our service sporadically over a period of years. This depends entirely on what you find most helpful.
Women and girls are disproportionately affected by sexual violence. Therefore, Rape Crisis provides specialist support for women and girls only and our volunteers are trained in a range of gender-specific issues that affect women and girls. But we recognise that significant numbers of men and boys also suffer from sexual violence and abuse and fully support the provision of services to meet their needs. The following are available:

The Cambridge Rape Crisis information booklet contains various useful pieces of information for survivors of sexual abuse and their families. This includes advice concerning the emotions you, or a loved one, may be experiencing as well as details of the police reporting procedure and court proceedings.
